My Role
As a UX/UI designer, I worked on web and mobile screen designs across seven out of the thirteen modules within the Securra project. My role involved close collaboration with the product owner, and in a few modules, I worked with my fellow designer, Dhayalan. I was responsible for creating user flows, designing hi-fi screens, prototyping, and iterating based on feedback.
Problem
The primary challenge was to create an integrated health app ecosystem that effectively catered to patients' health monitoring needs and facilitated medical professionals' decision-making processes. The design had to accommodate diverse user groups and enable seamless collaboration among healthcare providers.
Research
To gain a deep understanding of the problem and user needs, I collaborated closely with the product owner. We reviewed detailed requirements, studied user personas including doctors, admin staff, health workers, and patients, and identified pain points in existing systems. Patients sought an app that seamlessly integrated with their wearable trackers and provided actionable insights. On the other hand, medical professionals require a system that can aggregate and analyze health data, assisting them in delivering informed care.
Ideation
I began with brainstorming sessions to ideate on features and user flows. Collaborating with the product owner and cross-functional teams, we created wireframes and user flow diagrams for both the web and mobile interfaces.
Prototyping & Iterations
Using Figma, I transformed wireframes into interactive prototypes that helped validate the user experience and gather feedback from stakeholders. I collaborated with my teammates to create a design system, which I then consistently applied throughout the UI design process.
Web
Onboarding:
The problem we faced in onboarding was that a lot of data have to be collected without the user dropping in the middle of the process. And we also had to figure out the hierarchy and how hospitals are onboarded and the doctors are invited. To simplify onboarding, I designed a step-by-step process with clear instructions, ensuring that each role's information was accurately collected. Interactive tooltips and real-time validation eased the process.
Profile 360:
Achieving a balance between comprehensiveness and simplicity in the Profile 360 module was very challenging. I designed an intuitive profile layout that displayed patient data organized into sections such as medical history, assessments, wearable data, and trends. A clear hierarchy and visually distinct sections allowed doctors to have a holistic understanding of the patient's health.
Care Program:
This module provides an interactive interface enabled medical professionals to create tailored care programs based on patient data and diagnosis. I designed a dashboard that showcased active care programs, complete with relevant details and progress tracking. The system facilitated easy enrollment, screenings, and payments.
Meal Planner:
For personalized diet plans, I designed a tool that allowed nutritionists to input dietary restrictions and preferences. The platform then generated meal plans that integrated seamlessly into care programs.
Slot Management:
The Slot Management module plays a critical role in coordinating doctors' schedules and patient appointments. This module is used by receptionists and hospital administrators to oversee and manage the availability of doctors, and perform tasks such as adding, postponing, or canceling appointments.
Hospital Management:
The hospital management module was created as a hub where admins could oversee various aspects of the hospital including managing doctors, consultation fees, and other health professionals.
Mobile
Goal Tracker:
Balancing the need for detailed goal tracking with an easy-to-use interface was a hurdle. To overcome this, I adopted a progressive disclosure approach, allowing users to start with basic goals and gradually delve into more specific targets. Gamification elements were used to enhance user engagement; for example, the user can get reward points which later can be used for pharmacy and lab test orders.
Meal Planner:
Designing the Meal Planner posed a unique challenge of integrating manual food logs with generated meal recommendations. To address this, I designed a seamless flow where users could easily input their meals while the app calculated nutritional data. After the initial usage, personalized suggestions will be shown for the log as well as rewarding the user with reward points.
Reflections and Lessons Learned:
Throughout the project, I learned the significance of collaboration and the value of continuous feedback loops. Overcoming challenges such as balancing data complexity with user-friendliness and ensuring cross-platform consistency has enriched my skills as a UX/UI designer.
